LITTLE ROCK, AR. — In response to Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders signing the LEARNS Act in to law, Vice President of Government Affairs Tom Newell released the following statement on behalf of yes. every kid.:

“By signing the LEARNS Act into law, Arkansas has established itself as a national leader in educational freedom and transformation. Thanks to this legislation, Arkansas families will determine what is best for their students—no longer limited by their ZIP code or family income. The elimination of the 3% cap on inter-district transfers will help to make public schools truly public by giving families more school options—a major step toward allowing students to access any public school of their choosing, no matter where they live. And the Children’s Educational Freedom Account Program will empower families with decision-making over their educational resources so they can find a learning environment that best meets the needs of their children.

“Arkansas is now the fourth state this year to pass comprehensive ESA legislation on behalf of children and families. Families across the nation are sending a clear message: they want to make their own decisions.

“We are grateful to Gov. Huckabee Sanders, Sen. Breanne Davis, Rep. Keith Brooks, the Arkansas Legislature and the many education advocates who have put Arkansas children—not the system—first. We look forward to continuing to work across the Natural State to give every student the opportunities they deserve.”
