A new poll of likely 2026 Kansas Republican primary voters shows overwhelming support for education freedom policies—and clear political upside for candidates who champion them. The statewide poll found that Republican voters back policies that put parents in charge of their children’s education.
“This poll makes it clear that Kansas Republican primary voters strongly support education freedom and want lawmakers to expand opportunities for families,” said Shannon Pahls, public affairs director, yes. every kid. “Voters overwhelmingly support giving parents more control over how and where their children are educated. The message is simple: Kansans want more options, not fewer, and they’re prepared to support legislators who put families first.”
Family-First Policies are Popular
- 87% support allowing parents — not the government — to choose the best school for their children, including 70% who strongly support it.
- 81% support making K-12 education more flexible for families.
- 68% say they would be more likely to vote for a gubernatorial candidate who prioritizes giving families more educational choices, a 58-point advantage over candidates who oppose putting families first.
Support extends to specific policy proposals:
- 61% support Kansas’ existing tax credit scholarship program.
- 59% support expanding the program so more families can participate.
- 55% support Kansas opting into President Trump’s new federal tax credit scholarship program, only 14% oppose.
Importantly, backing education freedom carries electoral benefits:
- By a 35-point margin, GOP primary voters are more likely to support legislators who back expanding Kansas’ scholarship program.
- By a 33-point margin, GOP primary voters are more likely to support legislators who back opting Kansas into the federal tax credit program
As candidates begin to make their case to voters, the message from Kansas Republicans is unmistakable: empowering parents and expanding educational opportunity is a winning issue in 2026.
