(JEFFERSON CITY, MO.) – Today, the Missouri Legislature passed Senate Bill 727, which included an expansion of the Empowerment Scholarship Program. The bill now goes to Gov. Mike Parson’s desk for final approval.

A recent poll conducted by yes. every kid. foundation. found that a majority of Americans (63%), including Democrats, Independents, and Republicans, support expanding access to education savings accounts. That same poll found that Americans believe increased options would improve education overall.

“This is a great step toward empowering more Missouri families with education freedom,” said Shannon Pahls, public affairs director, yes. every kid. “The Missouri Legislature should be commended for their work on this legislation which strengthens the Empowerment Scholarship Program. Educational choice is sweeping the nation, and Missouri is joining the list of growing states delivering real results for families and students. We look forward to continuing to work with legislative leadership to increase educational options for even more families in Missouri.”

Background on SB 727:
