(BATON ROUGE, Louis.) – Today, Gov. Jeff Landry delivered his 2024 Governor’s address, during which he highlighted the need for education freedom for every family in Louisiana. “Let us send a loud and clear message, that the parent is the most important voice in a child’s education,” he proclaimed, expressing the importance for legislators to “put parents back in control and let the money follow the child.”
A June 2023 poll by yes. every kid. foundation. and Arc Insights found that two-thirds of Louisiana K-12 parents support educational freedom and 88% want to control the school their child attends. A national poll by yes. every kid. foundation. and YouGov also found broad majorities of Americans believe education freedom strengthens education overall.
“Gov. Landry is listening to Louisiana families and promising to empower every family with education freedom,” said Lily Landry, senior legislative analyst, yes. every kid. “No one knows the unique needs of a child better than their family; Gov. Landry understands that. We look forward to working with the governor to empower all families with decision-making authority over their kids’ education, regardless of their income or home address.”
