This morning, New Hampshire Gov. Kelly Ayotte called for empowering every kid with eligibility for Education Freedom Accounts (EFAs) in her biennial budget address.
Why it matters:
- EFAs empower students to direct the state share of their per-pupil education spending, about $5,200.
- More than 5,300 New Hampshire kids are using EFAs to curate their best-fit education today.
- Gov. Ayotte often called for expanding education freedom leading up to the November 2024 election, while her opponent attacked EFAs.
- A January 2025 poll found that seven-in-ten Granite Staters support education savings accounts.
What we’re saying:
“Gov. Ayotte knows that every child might need something different, and nobody knows a child better than their family,” said Nick Murray, public affairs manager, yes. every kid. “Including universal Education Freedom Accounts in her budget proposal shows a commitment to ensuring every Granite State family has the power to choose an education that meets their kids’ needs.”
Go Deeper:
- In Gov. Ayotte’s proposal, every child attending public school would be eligible for an Education Freedom Account starting in the 2026-27 school year, with a pathway to expanding EFAs to every kid in New Hampshire.
