RICHMOND, Va. — In response to Gov. Glenn Youngkin announcing the K-12 learning recovery grants, Director of Government Affairs Andrew Yates released the following statement on behalf of yes. every kid.
“The latest NAEP results revealed large declines in reading and math, only reinforcing that a top-down approach to education does not work for every child. Gov. Glenn Youngkin is addressing the urgency of this moment by empowering families. Providing Commonwealth families with $30 million in K-12 learning recovery grants will provide a pathway for students to access the education that fits their learning styles. The highest form of accountability is letting families decide how to use their education resources to best meet the unique needs of their kids.
“Rather than investing in a standardized approach that is not serving all students, Gov. Youngkin is investing in families. Policymakers across the nation should take note: Equipping families with direct resources can help ensure every student has access to an excellent education.
“yes. every kid. is proud to partner a diverse coalition of organizations calling for direct-to-family resources to improve learning. We applaud Gov. Youngkin for providing solutions to help every child access the education that is best for them.”
