OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — In response to the early success of the Oklahoma online student transfer portal, Vice President of Government Affairs Tom Newell released the following statement on behalf of yes. every kid.:

“yes. every kid. is proud to have been a part of a broad coalition of local education and parents-driven organizations that is spearheading change in Oklahoma. By working together with a kids-focused approach, the coalition helped pass SB 783. This policy created an online student transfer portal, a streamlined pathway for all Oklahoma families to find the best education option for their children. We applaud Oklahoma policymakers for championing families by expanding educational opportunities for all children across the state.

“Almost 11,000 transfer requests were received in eight months, signaling a strong desire from Oklahoma families for education choices that meet their kids’ unique needs. While thousands of families now have new opportunities, some students’ transfer requests have been denied. We look forward to working with lawmakers to ensure that every family and child is empowered to learn in a way that reflects their individuality.”
