Thanks to bold leadership in Carson City, families across Nevada now have more opportunities to find the right public school for their kids. The newly passed open enrollment law (AB 533) removes barriers and makes it easier for students to attend public schools that best meet their needs—regardless of where they live.
This win belongs to the families who spoke up—and to the policymakers who listened.
We’re especially grateful to Assemblywoman Selena Torres-Fossett, who championed the bill and worked tirelessly to see it through. Her commitment to Nevada families made this progress possible.
And we thank Governor Joe Lombardo, whose leadership helped make open public school access a reality. His support ensured that this legislation became law, expanding opportunity for students across the state.
Together, their actions helped create a more open, more responsive public education experience for students in every community.
Let’s keep this momentum going. We’re reshaping education to put families first.
