Every child is capable of amazing things. Each one is a unique individual who has something valuable to contribute to society.
The culture and system of American education have not valued these innate abilities, defaulting instead to a one-size-fits-all system that will never meet everyone’s individual needs.
We believe in the ability of each child. We believe in the ability of families to collaborate with educators to help each child become the best version of themselves.
Families and kids should be empowered with the freedom they need to find their gifts and to learn the unique way they can contribute. That trust shouldn’t just be words we tell them—it should be actions that we show them.
Every family deserves the freedom to control the public funds meant to support their kids’ education. Every family should have the freedom to decide which educational experiences are best, and they should have the resources to make those decisions.
This coalition believes that it’s time to modernize American education through directly funding every kid. We adopt the following principles:
- Direct funding should be made available to every family, not just a select few.
- Direct funding should be the way we fund all education, including public schools.
- Politicians should adopt a permissive attitude towards directly funding programs, allowing families to choose from a much wider range of options than are available in public education today.
These ideas are supported by more than 70% of Americans—by families and non-families alike and from Republicans and Democrats. It is time for the American majority to modernize our outdated systems and give every kid every opportunity to reach their full potential.
Sincerely,
The Fund Every Kid Coalition
