Oklahoma made history when it became one of the first states to offer families a tax credit for educational expenses outside the traditional public school setting. The Parental Choice Tax Credit gave families the freedom to choose what works best for their children—and demand has been clear: families want it, and they’re using it.
Now it’s time to build on that momentum.
Increasing the Parental Choice Tax Credit cap isn’t just good policy—it’s a signal to Oklahoma families that their lawmakers trust them. Parents know their children. They know when a child needs a different pace, a different environment, or simply a place where they can thrive. The tax credit gives them the financial footing to act on that knowledge.
But for many families, the current cap puts the Parental Tax Credit out of reach. When families are turned away, students miss out on opportunities – and that’s why expanding access now is so important.
Increasing the cap means more Oklahoma families can access the educational settings that work for them. And it means Oklahoma continues to lead on education freedom in a way that is meaningful, not symbolic.
Lawmakers who vote to expand the Parental Choice Tax Credit cap are voting for Oklahoma families. They’re affirming that parents are the experts on their own children, and that the state’s role is to open doors—not limit them.
The families of Oklahoma are watching. Let’s give them something to celebrate.
